Margot Robbie’s unforgettable and boundary-pushing modern classic is set to land on a new free streaming home. It’s easy to forget that Margot Robbie shot into Hollywood stardom seemingly out of nowhere, especially given her recent roles as Harley Quinn and Barbie. But after a long stint on the Australian soap opera, Neighbours, Margot Robbie was selected by legendary director Martin Scorsese for a dark comedy like no other. As well as earning five Oscar nominations, the extremely R-rated movie made Robbie a household name, and it’s about to get a second life on a new streaming platform.
Based on the best-selling biography of the same name, The Wolf of Wall Street is officially coming to free streaming next month. Pluto TV, the ad-supported free-streaming platform, has acquired The Wolf of Wall Street as part of the platform’s November lineup of movies. Margot Robbie’s modern classic will fly by private jet onto Pluto TV on Nov. 1. It isn’t clear exactly how long the film will remain on free streaming for. But Pluto TV usually operates on one-month contracts. So, expect The Wolf of Wall Street to depart from the free streamer at the end of November.
‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Is an R-Rated Dark Comedy Like No Other
The Wolf of Wall Street didn’t just make waves because of its phenomenal performances, great direction, and cautionary tale; it also caught people’s attention because of the pure excess. The film is a biopic of Jordan Belfort, a former Wall Street broker who started his own firm through somewhat illegal means. Raking in millions each week, Belfort lived a life of luxury and lust, and the film spared no expense depicting that.

Leonardo DiCaprio played Belfort, with Robbie portraying his second wife, Naomi Lapaglia. The film featured an astounding cast that also included Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Cristin Milioti, Kyle Chandler, Jon Favreau, Jon Bernthal, Aya Cash, P.J. Byrne, and the late Rob Reiner. All of that talent resulted in The Wolf of Wall Street earning a 79% Rotten Tomatoes score, with an 83% user rating. It wasn’t just Jordan Belfort raking in the cash in the movie, as The Wolf of Wall Street grossed over $406 million worldwide.
‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Is a Painfully Misunderstood Movie
What with film being a subjective medium, people will always have different readings and interpretations of movies, and it’s wrong to call someone’s understanding of a film incorrect, unless you’re one of those people who idolize The Wolf of Wall Street. It’s a fantastic movie and a cautionary tale about extreme capitalism and how extreme wealth and power can corrupt a person. Jordan Belfort is not meant to be an aspirational figure for young men to put on a pedestal to try and be like him. Unfortunately, 13 years after the movie was released, that is still very much the case.
