Game of Thrones favorite Peter Dinklage has officially joined Renée Zellweger among the cast of an upcoming comedy-drama from director Sacha Gervasi. Their combined talents elevate an already intriguing project to new heights ahead of the official start of filming, which won’t begin until 2027.

Darlington joins a number of other films headed to the American Film Market in November 2026. The high-concept dramedy puts Zellweger in the leading role as Kate Spencer, a forgotten actress who is offered the opportunity to revive her career through a strange proposition. She’s invited to reprise her most famous role, but not in the typical renewal: in the real world. Kate is hired by a reclusive tech billionaire to join him on a meticulously restored country estate in England. He lives out his days within the fantasy that it is 1923, and Kate is hired to help enrich the illusion.

Once she settles into her new life, however, Kate discovers that “illusion and reality are far more entwined than she ever imagined,” according to an official synopsis for the film. The plot is unique and intriguing, and with a star-studded cast behind it, it’s poised for success. Alongside Dinklage and Zellweger, Dominic Sessa will appear in Darlington, according to Deadline. Viewers may recognize the 24-year-old from his roles in The Holdovers, Tony, and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.

Alexander Payne will serve as executive producer for the upcoming film, alongside producers Jim Garavente (Game Night), Alison Owen (Saving Mr. Banks), and Debra Hayward, who worked with Zellweger on 2016 film Bridget Jones’s Baby. The franchise, which Zellweger stars in, concluded with its fourth and final entry, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, in 2025.

Gervasi is an award-winning writer and director, and he’s set to bring both sets of skills to Darlington. He was tapped to write the screenplay alongside his duties as director, which should keep him quite busy going into 2027. Previously, Gervasi co-wrote the Steven Spielberg-directed film The Terminal, starring Tom Hanks, and directed the Academy Award-nominated Hitchcock. He also worked with Dinklage on the 2018 release My Dinner with Hervé, which Gervasi wrote, directed, and executive produced.

Darlington isn’t set to begin filming until 2027, so interested viewers will have to wait awhile. However, each new development attaches another exciting name to the project, which bodes well for its eventual release.
