The trailer for Netflix’s reimagining of a Disney classic has been revealed after the first-look images debuted back in September. Based on The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the new French-language feature intends to tell the story of a hunchbacked stonemason who inspired Victor Hugo’s Quasimodo.
Netflix has released the official trailer for The Hunchback, Soul of Paris. Directed by Jean-François Richet (Plane) and starring Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), the film is set to make its streaming debut on Nov. 27. As the trailer suggests, audiences will be treated to a grounded, realistic version of the story made a classic for families in Disney’s 1996 animated musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Here, Quasimodo is portrayed as a stonemason who is hunted down by the government to turn him into a test subject to create a cure for a plague ravaging Paris, France, in 1830.
